Welcome to NH Jump$tart!

We have joined the world of bloggers! I've been told that having a blog is like having a pet. Well, we're a family of cat lovers so I'm accustomed to self-cleaning animals. They're also a wee bit independent, so I think I'm going in the right direction. The only thing I'm puzzled by the "litter box" of blogs. Guess I'll have to deal with that as it comes.

In the meantime, it's bon voyage for the NH Jump$tart blog. Let's keep the dialogue going about the importance of youth financial literacy in the Granite State!

  1. I have no blogging experience so I hope this works!
Winnacunnet has taken steps to make Personal Finance more attractive to all students. The curriculum committee has recommended that it is offered as an A level class through the business department. That will allow the grades to count in the student's all important weighted average that determines class rank. This should attract our college bound students who need this information so badly.
We will also offer Personal Finance as a B level class through Math so that other students also have the opportunity to take it.
Most excitedly, there is talk of making Personal Finance a required senior class, similar to our Senior Seminar class! This one is still a ways out, especially with tight budgets this year, but at least the need has been acknowledged and it is on the radar! This has been a pretty good week!

  2. Great news that goes along with Janice's comment. Newfound is also moving to making Personal Finance a graduation requirement! We are heavily promoting it for next year to juniors and seniors and hope to be taking it to the School Board next year. I've been pushing for it for over 6 years and now it's finally coming to fruition.
